Talking and Tasting : the Food Valley

Paola and Daniela are great hosts and really go out of their way to make sure your time with them is full of the things you want to do. I have spent two periods with them. For the first I wanted 1-1 cooking lessons, in Italian, some cultural trips and some food-related trips. We shopped in the markets, visited a farm that makes Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale and a small factory that makes Parmigiano Reggiano, and went to a four-hour evening masterclass on making risotto. On the second visit I brought a friend who doesn’t speak Italian but who has a fascination for all things related to food. Corrado took us on a packed two days visiting the Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale farm, a different Parmigiano Reggiano factory, an excellent Prosciutto factory, and an absorbing Cantina producing several styles of Lambrusco. In addition we had time to visit the Ferrari museum, factory and racetrack in Maranello, as well as a private Maserati collection.
